Brief Review of GREEK symbols
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
The Greek alphabet is used frequently in Mathematics. Consequently, so you
aren't distracted by nonessentials when you are studying, you must be
comfortable with the following symbols :
Lower case :
α alpha
ß beta
τ gamma
δ delta
ε epsilon
σ sigma
µ mu
Θ theta
φ phi
Upper case :
Γ gamma
Σ sigma
Φ phi
Most instructors are so familiar with these symbols that they will casually
interchange them with "real" symbols, like A, B, X, and Y, without even
thinking twice about it. You must be able to do the same.
